Disciplines
BJJ – Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a combat sport that branched out from Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and continues to evolve. Strikes and kicks are prohibited in BJJ.
The main goal in the fight is to submit your opponent through lever and strangle techniques.
Through these techniques it is possible for a smaller and weaker person to have a chance against physically superior opponents.
Therefore, BJJ can be efficiently applied in self-defence and is suitable for everybody to practice, regardless of gender or age.
No Gi BJJ / Grappling
No GI BJJ / Grappling aka. submission grappling closely resembles BJJ, although no Gi is worn here, instead shorts and a rash guard (skin-tight t-shirt). We get to know both variation in equal part and combine them with wrestling and judo techniques.
MMA – Mixed Martial Arts
Mixed Martial Arts is a full-contact sport. It was popularised in the early 1990s with the help of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) organisation, the world’s largest promoter of televised competitions.
The competitors make use of striking and grappling techniques on foot as well as on the ground. Our MMA training at Ferrer BJJ is led by two experienced trainers who ensure safe and proper practice of the basics without injury.
Team
ALBERTO
Alberto Ferrer lives and breathes Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He initially learned BJJ as self-defense, but this quickly developed into a passion.
Within a short time, this passion led Alberto to earning titles such as European Champion and Swiss Champion in his collection. Today Alberto is a proud wearer of a black belt and founder of Ferrer BJJ.

DENISE
It sounds like a cliché, but BJJ has changed me and my life completely.
I only wanted to train once a week as a hobby to lose a little weight and get a little fitter.
Already after a few weeks this had completely changed. Since then I have been training every day, taking care of my diet, going through life self-assured and taking part in several international competitions every year.
My goal as a trainer is to teach the students the important basics on which they can build their own BJJ style. I want to engage with students and support them where I can.

TIMON
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is more than just a sport for me – it’s a way to balance out everyday life. After a tough training session, you feel physically exhausted, but mentally re-energised.
On the mat, you learn to stay calm and develop control – qualities that extend far beyond sport. The combination of the skills you learn on the mat and the inspiring environment during training is particularly valuable.

ROUVEN
For me, BJJ is first and foremost fun.
There’s nothing like a hard training session with good sparring where you give everything and run out of the dojo absolutely wrecked but overjoyed.
But BJJ is also a solution to problems. It teaches you not to lose your head in difficult situations, to stay calm and to find a way out. This can also be applied in daily life, which helps you to deal with problems more confidently and calmly.
BJJ challenges body and mind. It teaches you to think analytically and you get to know yourself better on a physical and mental level.
As a trainer it is my goal to get the best out of every student and for them to reach their goals. Whether this is as a competitor, for a hobby, for fitness or to strengthen self-confidence, it doesn’t matter. Getting a little better every day and getting closer to your goal step by step. The students should receive an arsenal of techniques and concepts from which they can create their individual style.
